Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the Operating Room team. You will prepare the OR, maintain sterility, and scrub in general and specialty cases, potentially as 2nd–4th scrub. The role supports MercyOne’s mission and values across Des Moines metro area operations.

We offer full-time, day-shift opportunities (6:45am–3:15pm or 6:45am–5:15pm) with 8- and 10-hour shifts available and a full benefits package. CST certification is preferred, with licensing requirements as noted.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or nursing program with surgical experience.
• CST certification preferred; CST required within 18 months of hire if working in Illinois.
• LPN license required if you are a graduate of an LPN program.
• No prior experience is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Mandatory Reporter.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and under pressure; independent accountability.
• Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for procedures, including instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain the sterile field during surgery.
• Scrub in general cases (general, gynecology, urology, podiatry, plastics) and 2nd–4th scrubs as needed.
• Follow MercyOne performance expectations and contribute to the mission and values.
