Base pay range

$37.00/hr - $47.00/hr

The primary objective of this job is to improve quality, treat and support patients and family members in a caring professional manner, fulfilling the hospital’s mission to serve our patients and their families.

Essential Functions

• Ensure smooth functioning of activities during surgical procedures, maintaining sterile attire and environment.
• Anticipate surgeons' needs and efficiently carry out instructions from surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses.
• Assist in assembly and preparation of supplies, instruments, and equipment required for surgeries.
• Assist in opening sterile supplies onto the sterile field, ensuring only necessary supplies are opened.
• Check the functionality of suction, lighting, and equipment.
• Assist with patient positioning for surgery.
• Perform surgical scrub and prepare sterile field following hospital protocols.
• Inspect instrumentation and operative scopes for cleanliness and functionality prior to surgery.
• Perform surgical counts and verify operative site with the circulating nurse.
• Assist in gowning, gloving, and draping the surgical team.
• Maintain the integrity of the sterile field and report any breaches immediately.
• Label, mix, and dispense medications/contrast media under supervision.
• Support surgical procedures by holding sutures, irrigating, suctioning, and supporting the operative site as needed.
• Secure specimens and assist in proper disposal and documentation.
• Assist in room cleanup and transport instruments and specimens appropriately.
• Demonstrate efficiency, time management, and cost containment in procedures.

Additional responsibilities

Under supervision of R.N., assist with psychosocial needs, patient positioning, and room preparation based on patient needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited operating room technology program.
• Certified as a surgical technologist by a nationally approved certifying body.
• Previous experience in a clinical or medical-related position is preferred.
