Job Description

Position Summary: Under the direction of a radiologist, with minimal supervision, maintain the daily function of the MRI department.

Education, License & Cert: High school diploma with additional 2-year Radiology Technology Training from a JRCERT-approved program. Additional training or experience in MRI Technology. Certification required: ARRT(R); preferred: ARRT(R)(MR).

Experience: Minimum of two years MRI scanning experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

1. The MRI technologist must initiate the correct protocol for scanning requested anatomy with minimal supervision, including reviewing consults, preparing patients, and investigating contraindications.
2. Advise and explain the MRI procedure to patients, including special populations and those with contraindications for contrast injection.
3. Transfer patients safely, prepare for injections, and operate equipment for imaging, ensuring proper patient alignment and protocol adherence.
4. Monitor scans, adjust parameters, and communicate abnormalities to radiologists. Transfer images to PACS and prepare films or digital images for physicians.
5. Maintain familiarity with life support equipment, monitor patient reactions, and respond to emergencies, including performing CPR if necessary.

Other Duties:

1. Rotate call overnights and work independently within a 30-minute response window.
2. Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and bending, and maintain department cleanliness.
3. Cooperate with staff and accept non-routine assignments as needed.
