Job summary

UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs seeks a Surgical Technologist for the OR. This full-time, day-shift, onsite role supports efficient surgical procedures and instrument handling.

Responsibilities include preparing the suite, passing instruments, maintaining equipment, and assisting with patient positioning. Requires BLS and surgical tech certification with 6 months experience or a new graduate.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
  • Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Minimum Experience: 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.
  • BLS/ CPR valid through start date.

  • Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients; maintains instrument counts.
  • Passes instruments to surgeon and tracks instrument and supply locations during surgery.
  • Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment with critical thinking and minimal supervision.

Department: OR Operating Room
Work Schedule: Full Time, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Shift: Days
Pay: $27.61 - $41.41 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant‘s relevant experience
This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Responsibilities
  • Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
  • Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
  • Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
  • Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • Minimum Experience: 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in‑hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
