Job summary

UCHealth University of Colorado Health is hiring a Surgical Technologist to join the OR Operating Room team at Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion in Aurora, CO. This full-time position requires surgical tech experience or completion of an accredited program.

The role involves preparing the surgical suite and assisting during procedures. Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED, a State Surgical Assistant registration, and a valid BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must have 6 months of surgical tech experience or be a graduate of an accredited program.
• Must possess a valid BLS or CPR card before the start date.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Ensure all equipment is in working order.
• Assist the physician by passing instruments during surgery.
• Process specimens for laboratory delivery.
• Account for instruments and supplies during surgeries.

Pay:$27.61 - $41.41 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipmentand supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

• Education: High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
• Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
• Minimum Experience: 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.
• BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
