Job summary

UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, CO is seeking a Surgical Tech to join the PVH Operating Room team. This full-time, onsite role supports the safe, efficient execution of surgical procedures during Day shifts.

You will prepare the operating suite, assist with instrument handling, drape patients, and pass instruments to surgeons while maintaining sterile technique. BLS certification and surgical tech credential are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED (or military training) required.
  • State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Minimum 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program required.
  • BLS/CPR card valid through 60 days after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure equipment and instruments are in good working order; assist with patient positioning and draping.
  • Pass instruments to the surgeon during surgery and track instruments and supplies.
  • Receive and process specimens for laboratory delivery.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
  • Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
  • Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
  • Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • Minimum Experience: 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
