Job description

Position: Surgical Technician

Location: 8100 S. Walker, Bldg. C., Oklahoma City, OK

Status: 35-40 hours per week, benefit eligible, 401(k) with company match

Hours: Monday-Friday, varies based on caseload, shift pay included (no call, no weekends, December exception)

Overall Responsibility

Provides assistance to the physician during surgical procedures, including preparing supplies and equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring room cleanliness for turnovers. Responsible for identifying damaged instruments and notifying the OR Director for repairs or replacements.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Prepare supplies and equipment for surgical cases.
2. Maintain a sterile and safe environment according to surgical standards.
3. Assist the physician under the supervision of the Circulating RN.
4. Support Purchasing and the OR Director in maintaining adequate supplies and instruments.
5. Follow safety procedures to ensure a safe workplace.
6. Engage in continuing education to improve skills and professional growth.
7. Operate equipment safely and report unsafe conditions.

Required Skills

• Licensure and Certification: BCLS (certification within 90 days if not current); Certified Surgical Scrub Technologist preferred.
• Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of approved surgical scrub training or equivalent experience.
• Physical and Environmental Requirements: Ability to read, write, speak English fluently; cognitive skills for math, reading, and sterile techniques; good communication skills; vision and hearing adequate for job needs; physical ability for prolonged standing, walking, and lifting 30-40 pounds; exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, lasers, and infectious diseases.
