INTEGRIS Heart Hospital at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma’s largest not-for-profit health system, has a great opportunity for a Surgical Technologist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This full-time, day-shift position (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) with call offers the chance to provide exceptional care to patients. The Surgical Technologist works with surgeons and healthcare practitioners, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. They possess expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and technology to facilitate invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Adherence to National Patient Safety Goals is required based on patient contact level.

Qualifications
  • BCLS certification within 120 days of employment
  • Graduate certificate from an accredited surgical technology program within 60 days or 6 months of experience as a surgical technologist
  • Employment will be terminated if the program is not completed within this timeframe or if the candidate does not have 6 months of experience
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred
  • Effective communication in English
Additional Qualifications for Specific Locations

Lakeside Women's Hospital:

  • Knowledge of sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies preferred

Radiology/Cath Lab Only:

  • 6 months angiography experience preferred, including PTA, PTCA, laser PTA/PTCA, and intra-aortic balloon pump experience

Certifications:

  • Tech in Surgery - Certified (NCCT), TS-C (NCCT)
  • CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) - NATL
Responsibilities
  • Maintain sterile field and anticipate the surgeon’s needs
  • Ensure patient safety and quality care during procedures
  • Prepare and check supplies and equipment
  • Assist with gowning, gloving, draping, and instrument passing
  • Handle surgical specimens and cultures properly
  • Maintain sterile technique throughout procedures
  • Prepare sterile dressings and sterilize instruments
  • Assist with room cleaning and preparation for subsequent patients

Additional duties for Lakeside Women's Hospital include sterilization and documentation processes as per hospital and regulatory standards.

This role involves exposure to hazards, including infectious materials, chemicals, and sharps. Physical demands include standing on hard surfaces, working with equipment, and possible overtime or on-call hours. Safety procedures are essential to minimize risks.
