Job summary

Jefferson Health Northeast seeks a Non-Certified Surgical Technician to join the intraoperative team. Hours are 11am-7pm, with duties including sterile field maintenance, instrument handling, and assisting the surgical team before, during, and after procedures.

The role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care, safety, and adherence to policies and standards in a dynamic perioperative environment. BLS certification and a surgical tech training program are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED plus formal surgical technician training.
• Experience: 1 year as Grandfathered/Non Certified Surgical Tech; CEU requirements to be completed within 1 year.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: patient- and family-centered care, effective communication, accuracy and attention to detail, safety, and operating room practices.

Responsibilities

• Inspects Operating Room (OR) for cleanliness and secures, sets up, and prepares OR equipment, instruments and supplies.
• Participates in team time out and advocates for patient safety and high quality care in the perioperative setting.
• Assists with gowning and gloving of the Surgical team including the Surgeon.
• Assists with preparation of the sterile field including draping of the patient and maintaining sterile field integrity.
• Gives thorough report to relief personnel on status of procedure and supplies to ensure smooth transitions.
