Job summary

Katmai is seeking a Surgical Services Technician to assist the Lead Technician in daily clinic operations, OR prep, instrument handling, and supply management. You will help maintain sterile fields, assist anesthesia in patient positioning, and ensure compliance with asepsis and infection control standards.

The role requires working in a military health system setting with opportunities for growth and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical service and clinical course.
• Graduation from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited surgical technologist program.
• At least 12 months of surgical services technician experience within the last 36 months.
• Current BLS from the American Red Cross, valid at all times.
• Must meet site health screening, immunizations, and security requirements.
• Familiarity with asepsis, sterile techniques, and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical patient care activities alongside lead technician.
• Transport patients and records to OR and recovery areas.
• Assist with routine safety checks and maintenance of OR equipment.
• Scrub, count, and pass instruments during procedures.
• Prepare sterile instruments, supplies, and linen packs for use.
• Assist circulating nurse with records and specimen prep for lab.
• Support nursing staff with preoperative patient prep.
• Attend training on new procedures and equipment.
