Job summary

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium seeks a technical surgical assistant to support operative teams and ensure a safe sterile environment for procedures. The role emphasizes anticipating surgeon needs and maintaining instrument readiness to minimize anesthesia exposure.

Under close supervision, you will manage supplies, instrument sterilization, and tissue handling, contributing to patient safety and efficient surgical flow within the OR.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical team under supervision.
• Reviews surgeon preference card to obtain supplies and equipment.
• Maintains sterile field and prepares the sterile setup for procedures.
• Performs scrub responsibilities and gowns gloves for the team.
• Performs surgical counts with the Circulating Nurse.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs and provides technical assistance during procedures.
• Manages sharps and instruments to keep the sterile field safe.
• Assesses fire safety risks and handles prep agents safely.
• Evens out post-procedure tasks including dressing applications and patient undraping.
