Job summary

Katmai Government Services is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to supervise operating room activities and provide expert nursing care for surgical patients. You will coordinate with the surgical team, ensure sterile technique, manage equipment and supplies, and support record-keeping and safety initiatives.

The role requires an RN license, current BLS/ALS/PALS, and at least 12 months in operating room settings.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current license in good standing
• Current BLS, ALS and PALS certifications maintained
• At least 12 months of operating room experience and sterile technique knowledge
• English reading, writing and speaking proficient
• Ability to meet site health screening and background checks

Responsibilities

• Direct and instruct staff in preparation, sterilization, and care of operating room equipment and supplies
• Supervise and coordinate central sterile supply activities and maintain records
• Provide professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgery
• Communicate with surgeons and other units to prioritize care
• Assemble materials and equipment for daily procedures and emergencies
• Respond to surgical emergencies and provide ACLS measures when needed
• Document patient care events and process improvements per guidelines
• Administer medications, fluids, blood products as required
• Ensure compliance with policies, infection control and safety standards
• Support perioperative patient care from admission to discharge
• Participate in orientation and training of new personnel
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety protocols
