Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join the operating room team in New York. The role requires CST certification, AR or state credentials, and experience with sterile technique and instrument handling during procedures.

You will assist surgeons, prepare sterile setups, maintain counts of instruments, and ensure patient safety through meticulous aseptic practices and timely readiness of supplies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Graduation from Certified CST Training Program.
• Certification in Operating Room Technology required.

Responsibilities

• Applies asepsis; performs surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving procedure.
• Sets up sterile instrument table and prepares supplies according to type of operation; assists in draping.
• Assists surgeon for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies; monitors progress and anticipates needs.
• Maintains correct counts of sponges, needles, and instruments; reports discrepancies and maintains aseptic technique.
• Assists in handling specimens, dressings, drainage systems, and patient transfer as needed.
• Assists in circulating functions under supervision; assembles supplies for procedures.
• Ensures patient positioning, aseptic environment, and preparation of operative area.
• Maintains counts and records; observes room activity and keeps equipment in good order.
• Assists in medication preparation for use during surgery; announces medication details aloud.
• Demonstrates professional accountability and pursues ongoing clinical development.
