Qualifications

• High School diploma is required and graduation from a Certified CST Training Program.
• NBSTSA Certification in Operating Room Technology is required.
• Preferred surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Applies asepsis; performs scrub, gowning, and gloving for procedures.
• Prepares sterile table and supplies; assists in draping and operative setup.
• Assists surgeon with instruments, sutures, and supplies; monitors progress.
• Maintains correct counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the team.
• Maintains aseptic technique and reports discrepancies per policy.
• Assists with specimen handling, dressings, and drains as needed.
• Moves patient to recovery; decontaminates equipment and rooms after procedures.
• Assists in circulating functions under nurse/physician supervision.
• Assembles supplies; provides special equipment during and after procedures.
• Positions patient; ensures proper table setup and sterile environment.
• Keeps records and completes operative counts accurately.
• Maintains room cleanliness and readiness for next procedure.
• Assists in medication preparation during surgery.
