Job summary

Genesis Coshocton Medical Center, part of Genesis HealthCare System, is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the intra-operative team. You will assist with instrument processing, maintain sterility, and support the OR staff throughout procedures at the Coshocton campus.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Patient care/health care experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; coursework in anatomy and physiology.
• Must complete Genesis Surgical Technician Competency Program within 12 months of hire.
• Current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow exact protocols.
• Good interpersonal skills (talking, listening, patience, judgment, initiative).

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates instruments/scopes, re-sterilizes, and maintains activity logs.
• Keeps equipment coordinator informed of problems with operating room equipment.
• Maintains accurate preference cards through communication with surgery team.
• Participates in on-call schedule as required by staffing levels.
• Helps reduce cost per procedure by avoiding unnecessary supplies.
• Responds to hospital within 30 minutes.
• Serves on department focus teams and manages assigned areas.
• Assists circulating nurse with implant documentation and correct charges.
• Participates in counting and Time Out procedures.
• Assists pre-incision and post-closure nursing tasks to meet patient needs.
