Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to assist in the operating room and support complex procedures. You will set up equipment according to surgeon specifications, maintain a sterile field, and pass instruments while anticipating the needs of the surgical team.

The role requires completing an accredited Surgical Technology program, BLS within 6 months, and no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months unless department leader determines it is not required.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate equipment according to physician specifications and area of specialization.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field; pass instruments and supplies; anticipate surgeons' needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe OR; ensure sterility and disinfection of the environment.
• Assist with gowning, gloving, draping and instrument handling; observe aseptic technique.
• Provide second assistant support as needed; assist in instrument room with cleaning/wrapping instruments.
• Perform patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique; lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Adhere to infection control policies and report equipment or supply problems.
• Participate in ongoing education and departmental meetings; support call coverage.
• Demonstrate competencies for Surgical Technologist I; adapt to various procedures.
