Job summary

Optim is seeking a Surgical Technician (PRN) for Brunswick, GA, part-time as needed. The role involves preparing the OR, assisting surgeons, and maintaining a sterile environment in a clinical setting.

Minimum qualifications include high school graduate, completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program, and NBSTA/BLS certifications is preferred. Prior OR experience is beneficial; training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• NBSTA Certification as a surgical technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical procedures, assembles supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Assists in clean-up of rooms between procedures and at the end of the schedule.
• Assists in monitoring and maintaining instruments, supplies, and equipment in the unit.
• Maintains proficiency in knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and AORN / AAMI standards of asepsis.
• Participates in the sponge, needle, and instruments count with the circulating nurse as needed.
• Responsible for identifying and preserving specimens received during surgery.
• Reports to supervisor any unusual occurrences, breaks in technique, malfunctioning equipment, any unsafe condition or potential hazard.
• Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
