Job summary

Responsibilities include instrument management, specimen handling, and adherence to safety protocols. Candidates should have completed an accredited Surgical Technologist Program and hold BLS certification; NBSTA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• NBSTA Certification as a surgical technologist preferred.
• BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical procedures and assembles supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Assists in cleaning rooms between procedures and at the end of the schedule.
• Monitors and maintains instruments, supplies, and equipment in the unit.
• Maintains proficiency in asepsis and standards (AORN/AAMI).
• Performs counts with the circulating nurse as needed.
• Identifies and preserves specimens received during surgery.
• Follows OSC policies and participates in drills and development activities.
