Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center in Houston is seeking a PRN Surgical Technologist to scrub and assist in the operating room. The role requires formal Surgical Technology training, certification, BCLS, and at least 2 years of experience; you will participate in on-call rotations and support OR processes.

This position offers exposure to a busy surgical suite within a major hospital system and opportunities to develop skills across procedures while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience is Required.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures according to standards.

• Updates surgeon preference cards, pulls case carts, stocks rooms, and assists with inventory.

Job Summary And Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on the need of the department.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues, whether actual or potential, to appropriate person in the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in performing other duties, whether assigned or not, such as assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning-over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.
• Quality Improvement: Strives for high quality performance and takes initiative to make improvements and deliver results.
• Personal Achievement: Sets and achieves personal goals to advance career-related skills, knowledge and abilities and helps others to improve their skills.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience is Required.
