Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to scrub on varied surgical procedures. The role ensures instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready, while implementing the care plan with the team to achieve positive patient outcomes.

The ST will maintain aseptic technique, assist in training new teammates, and uphold patient safety and confidentiality in a dynamic operating room environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Preferred CST certification with CPR/BLS/NBRP within 90 days where applicable.
• Strong adherence to aseptic technique and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform scrub duties for simple to complex surgical interventions.
• Assess and assemble instruments, equipment, and supplies for each case.
• Ensure plan of care is implemented with team and meets performance standards.
• Maintain a safe patient environment and assist in on-the-job training of new staff.
• Check instruments and equipment for proper working condition.
• Apply aseptic technique throughout the peri-operative phase; conduct counts as required.
• Label and report malfunctioning equipment and participate in evaluating new supplies.
• Respect patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality; work as part of a collaborative team.
