Job summary

St. Charles Health System is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the Surgical Services Perioperative Team in Oregon. The CST assists in scrub and second assisting roles within OR protocols and maintains sterile environments per AORN and SCHS policies.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, accurate instrument handling, and adherence to OBLS and Oregon law. On-site position with focus on efficient OR flow and patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CAAHEP/ABHES accredited program or military surgical technologist program.
• Current NBSTSA or NCCT Surgical Technologist Certification and BLS.
• One year OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room and obtain necessary equipment; drape and cover operating tables; arrange supplies for scheduled or emergency cases.
• Assist and pass instruments to surgeon; maintain sterile technique during procedures.
• Assist in patient positioning and gowning; assist in preparing and draping sterile field.
• Perform counts of sponges, sharps and instruments; participate in pre-brief, time-out, and debrief.
• Clean the operating room; break down cases; decontaminate instruments and arrange for sterile processing.
• Support Lean principles and contribute to a healing environment for patients and families.

Education

Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program or ABHES accredited program or military surgical technologist program

NBSTSA Surgical Technologist Certification or NCCT Surgical Technologist Certification
