Job summary

ST. CHARLES HEALTH SYSTEM is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to function within the Operating Room perioperative team. The CST will maintain sterile technique, assist surgeons, and ensure safe, efficient patient care in alignment with SCHS policies and OR standards.

Requirements include CAAHEP/ABHES or military CST education, NBSTSA or NCCT CST certification, and BLS. One year of high-volume OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP/ABHES or military CST program.
• Current NBSTSA or NCCT CST certification. BLS required.
• One year OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a member of the Surgical Services Perioperative team.
• Prepares the operating room and supplies; ensures sterility.
• Maintains aseptic technique and follows safety policies.
• Assists surgeon and team during procedures; passes instruments.
• Counts sponges and sharps per policy; handles specimens.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon(s) and assists in draping.
• Delivers patient care and customer service; promotes goodwill.
• Supports Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
