Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking an OR Tech II to join the Operating Room team at Jersey City Medical Center. You will work closely with the perioperative RN to scrub, prepare equipment, and support age-specific patient care in the surgical suite.

The role is full-time, evening shift, hourly pay between $31.41 and $38.42, with benefits including PTO, health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.
• 2–3 years of experience in surgical tech roles.
• Scrub proficiency across robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, trauma.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to multitask and work independently.

• Assist perioperative nurse and act as part of the team to organize patient care in the surgical suite.
• Maintain an environment that supports safe patient outcomes and expected physiologic responses.
• Prepare and scrub on multiple service lines as assigned.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualizes age specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.

Qualifications

Required:

• HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent
• Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
• 2 - 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements

• 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
• Every other weekend and Holiday
• Full Time
