Job summary

Jersey City Medical Center is seeking an OR Tech II to join the Operating Room team. You will assist perioperative staff, prepare instruments, maintain sterile technique, and support patient care during the surgical suite and perioperative division.

The position is full-time, evening shift, paid hourly, with competitive benefits. Required: surgical technician program, NBSTSA certification, BLS, and 2-3 years of experience; strong communication and multitasking skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program
• 2-3 years of experience
• Scrub knowledge across multiple service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal/written)
• Able to make calls, flexible, multitask, work independently

Responsibilities

• Assist perioperative team to organize and administer age-appropriate care.
• Maintain sterile environment and safe patient outcomes in the surgical suite.
• Support the perioperative division and ensure patient physiologic responses are as expected during surgery

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualizes age specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.

Qualifications

Required:

• HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent
• Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
• 2 - 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements

• 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
• Every other weekend and Holiday
• Full Time
