Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an OR Tech II to join the Operating Room team at Jersey City Medical Center. The role involves collaborating with perioperative nurses to organize and provide age-specific patient care, ensuring safe outcomes in the surgical suite and perioperative division.

Applicants should have a surgical technician program, 2–3 years of experience, NBSTSA certification, and a current BLS certificate. Shifts are day, with coverage including weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of Surgical Technician training program is required.
• 2–3 years of experience in a surgical tech role preferred.
• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assist perioperative team in organizing and administering age-specific patient care.
• Maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist with patient monitoring and respond to physiologic changes during surgery as part of the surgical team.

Pay Range: $31.41 - $38.42 per hour

Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate‘s educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualizes age specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
• 2 – 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls.
• Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements

7:00 am - 3:00 pm
