Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an OR Technician II at Jersey City Medical Center. The role supports the Operating Room team, assisting with patient care and surgical preparation.

Requirements include a Surgical Technician program, a high school diploma, and 2–3 years of experience. The schedule is 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with every other weekend and holidays as part of a part-time arrangement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program is required.
• 2–3 years of experience in a surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the perioperative RN to organize and administer age-appropriate care.
• Maintain a safe environment to support patient outcomes in the surgical suite and perioperative division.

Pay Range: $31.41 - $38.42 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualizes age specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.

2 – 3 years of experience.

Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written).

Must be able to make calls.

Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently.

Certifications and Licenses Required

Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required.

Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association.

Scheduling Requirements

7:00 am - 3:00 pm
