Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operating room activities under surgeon direction. The role includes sponging, suctioning, instrument handling and retractors, as well as general patient care and department upkeep per policy.

Requirements include High School diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training, and CST/CSA/TS-C with BLS. Non-exempt status applies; on-site in Baytown, TX.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training.
• Certification: CST or CSA or TS-C and BLS (or Instructor) required.
• Demonstrates safe, accurate use of surgical instruments and supplies; knowledge of sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon and surgical team during operative procedures.
• Prepare room, equipment and supplies for procedures; maintain sterile field.
• Assist with counts, instrument setup and turnover between cases.
• Communicate observations and patient status to the nurse in charge.
• Participate in department quality and safety initiatives.
