Job summary

Intermountain Health Intermountain Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team. You will assist with maintaining the sterile field, prepare the OR and instruments, and support surgeons during procedures under RN supervision.

This role offers full-time hours and pathways to advancement within ORT levels. Qualifications include BLS for healthcare providers, graduation from an ORT program (or equivalent), and prior scrub tech experience.

Qualifications

• BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or Graduated from a non-accredited ORT program within the past six months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam), or Two years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years, or International training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Competent in basic procedures or one or more specialty areas/facility case mix.
• Able to take assigned call.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the sterile field and a safe environment.
• Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.
• May assist with sterile processing.
• Will assist the surgeon(s) during the procedure but stays within the ORT scope of practice.
• Identifies emergency situations and exercise judgement when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
• On completion of the procedure, assists with room turnover, cleaning, and prepare for the next procedure.
• Has a pathway opportunity identified for advancement to ORT II, III and IV.
