Job summary

Intermountain Health Layton Hospital is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist to support the OR team and patient safety during procedures. The role reports to Surgical Services management and participates in system-wide safety initiatives. The position offers growth toward ORT II–IV based on performance and needs.

The candidate will assist with instrument prep, sterile field maintenance, and emergency response, while maintaining compliance with sterility standards and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months.
• Two years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years.
• International training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Able to take assigned call.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operating room and surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
• Maintain sterile field and a safe environment.
• Recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes.
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for procedures.
• May assist with sterile processing.
• Assist the surgeon during procedures within ORT scope of practice.
• Identify emergencies and respond appropriately.
• Assist with room turnover after procedures.
• Pathway for advancement to ORT II, III and IV.
