Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support endoscopy and surgical procedures. The role emphasizes sterile technique, anatomy knowledge, and patient care under RN supervision.

BLS is required, with a preference for certification in surgical technology. The successful candidate will join a team that ensures availability of equipment and supplies for procedures, scrubs for surgeries, and assists with endoscopy as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program, OR 5 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association.
• Certification in surgical technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on the surgery schedule and daily department needs.
• Cares for patients under staff nurse supervision with respect to age and developmental stage.
• Communicates patient care information to patients, family, and co-workers.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to changes in department due to census, acuity and resources.
• Performs related duties as required.
