Job summary

Avera McKennan is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist in the Operating Room and Clinic, ensuring patient care and procedural support. You will prepare the OR, assist the surgeon as a scrub person, and verify specimens with the team.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.
• Certified Surgical Tech (CST) preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience as Surgical Technician.
• Able to work specified hours and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the Operating Room for procedures, organizes equipment and instruments, and readies for emergencies.
• Assists surgeon as first or second scrub, maintains sterile field throughout procedures.
• Verifies specimens with surgeons and nurses during operations.
• Counts instruments, needles, and sponges with circulating nurse.
• Operates sterilization equipment and tracks decontamination per QA guidelines.
