Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team at Avera McKennan Hospital. This role involves assisting with pre-, intra-, and post-procedure activities and maintaining sterile field integrity to support surgical teams.

The position requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program, with NBSTSA CST preferred. Candidates should be able to work varied hours and collaborate closely with nurses and physicians.

Qualifications

• Must have visual acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech.
• Technical Certificate completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the Operating Room for procedures with equipment and instrument setup.
• Assists the surgeon as first or second scrub person during procedures.
• Maintains a sterile field and handles instruments efficiently as requested.
• Verifies implants and aids in inventory control and clerical duties for the department.
• Operates sterilization equipment and ensures safety and compliance with QA guidelines.
