Job summary

Avera Orthopedic Hospital-Sioux Falls is hiring a Surgical Technician to assist physicians and nursing staff in the operating room and clinic. You will prepare the OR, assist the surgeon and circulating nurse, and ensure sterile technique while handling instruments and implants.

The role requires completion of a surgical technician program and preferably CST certification. Opportunity to train new staff and participate in patient transport and equipment sterilization in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Technical certificate in surgical technology required.
• CST certification preferred, NBSTSA upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the Operating Room for procedures and organizes instruments and equipment.
• Assists surgeon as scrub person, maintaining sterile field and handling instruments.
• Assists circulating nurse in accounting for instruments, needles and sponges.
• Operates sterilization equipment and maintains equipment according to guidelines.
• Trains and orients new staff and students; transports patients to OR as needed.

Technical Certificate Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program
