Job summary

MercyOne Health System is recruiting a Surgical Technician to join the Operating Room team in Des Moines. The role supports preparation of the OR, instrument handling, and maintaining sterile technique throughout procedures.

The position involves scrubbing across general surgery, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics, with potential for multi-scrub duties. A CST is preferred, BLS required, and the setting emphasizes patient-centered care within MercyOne's mission.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology.
• Or graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
• CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa; required within 18 months if working in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for the surgical procedure, including instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Maintain the sterile field during the surgical procedure.
• Scrub in on general surgery, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics; may be 2nd, 3rd or 4th scrub.
• Adhere to MercyOne performance expectations and duties in line with mission and values.
