Job summary

MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa seeks a Surgical Technician to join our Operating Room. The technician prepares the operating room for procedures, ensures the sterile field, and supports the surgical team across a range of specialties.

The role may involve 2nd-4th scrub duties and requires graduation from an accredited surgical technology program (or equivalent experience). BLS is required; CST certification preferred in Iowa.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program.
• Graduate of an LPN program with surgical experience; or equivalent competency.
• BLS; Mandatory Reporter; CST certification may be required within 18 months depending on state.
• No prior experience is required.
• CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa; CST in Illinois within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, including instruments and supplies.
• Maintain sterile field throughout surgery; scrub in general, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics.
• May serve as 2nd, 3rd, or 4th scrub; adhere to MercyOne performance expectations.
