Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare the operating room, maintain sterile fields, and scrub on multiple specialties. This role supports a fast-paced OR team with 40 hours weekly, day shifts, and options for 8- or 10-hour shifts.

The position requires graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or LPN path with surgical experience; CST may be preferred, and BLS is mandatory. MercyOne values teamwork and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or apprenticeship/military training.
• LPN graduate with surgical experience considered equivalent.
• CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa; required within 18 months if working in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment and supplies; maintain sterile field during procedures.
• Scrub in on general surgery, gynecology, urology, podiatry and plastics; may be 2nd–4th scrub.
• Adhere to MercyOne performance expectations and departmental policies.
