Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington is seeking a Surgical Technologist II-OR to join the OR team in Lexington, KY. The role supports draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment handling, maintaining aseptic setup, counting, and assisting the surgeon throughout procedures.

The Technologist II-OR will be on-call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation, with responsibilities advancing patient care and operating room efficiency.

Qualifications

Technical Diploma or Associate degree in Surgical Technology.
Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
National CST Certification (Certified Surgical Technologist).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment handling.
Aseptically set up and maintain mayo and back tables during procedures.
Accurately count and account for all items before, during and after procedures.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and prepare instruments and supplies accordingly.
Check instrumentation, equipment, and supplies prior to use in a procedure.
Know uses of all equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
Seek information and support for knowledge gaps before use.
Plan, prepare and function in emergency situations.
Ensure room is ready before scheduled cases; minimize turnover.
Be in OR when patient is brought in and assist for next case preparation.

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Essential duties: Draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment.
Ability to aseptically set up and keep mayo and back table organized throughout procedure.
Correctly count and account for all required items prior to, during and following the procedure.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
