Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington is seeking a Surgical Technologist II-OR to join the OR team in Lexington, KY. The role supports draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment handling, maintaining aseptic setup, counting, and assisting the surgeon throughout procedures.

The Technologist II-OR will be on-call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation, with responsibilities advancing patient care and operating room efficiency.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma or Associate degree in Surgical Technology.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• National CST Certification (Certified Surgical Technologist).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment handling.
• Aseptically set up and maintain mayo and back tables during procedures.
• Accurately count and account for all items before, during and after procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and prepare instruments and supplies accordingly.
• Check instrumentation, equipment, and supplies prior to use in a procedure.
• Know uses of all equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Seek information and support for knowledge gaps before use.
• Plan, prepare and function in emergency situations.
• Ensure room is ready before scheduled cases; minimize turnover.
• Be in OR when patient is brought in and assist for next case preparation.
