Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington is seeking a Surgical Tech-OR for a full-time third shift in the Surgical Services Department. The role supports the perioperative plan of care, performing scrub functions and assisting the RN in the operating room, with emphasis on aseptic technique.

Candidates must complete a Surgical Technology program and hold a BLS certification (within 30 days if not already). The position requires on-call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Surgical Technology program.
• BLS certification is required; if not already certified, obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Technical or associate degree related to surgical technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Performs scrub functions and supports the perioperative plan of care.
• Demonstrates knowledge of operative procedures and aseptic techniques (gowning, gloving, sterilization, disinfection).
• Participates in unit activities and maintains positive patient and staff relations.
• On-call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description Surgical Tech-OR

Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse. Performs scrub functions and other roles, which support the perioperative plan of care Demonstrates knowledge of operative procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique including but not limited to gowning, gloving sterilization, and disinfection. Actively participates in unit activities. Ensures positive customer relations interactions. On call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.

Requirements Surgical Tech-OR

• Technical Diploma; Associate degree. (Surgical Tech Program)
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
