Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist in the operating room by selecting and handing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies during procedures. The role requires strict adherence to aseptic technique and rapid response to the surgeon’s needs.

Preferred candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and registration with the state regulatory agency where applicable. Strong organizational skills and composure in emergent situations are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Must be registered with State Regulatory Agency where applicable.
• Must have manual dexterity and stay composed in stressful emergent situations.
• Be conscientious, organized, and able to respond quickly to surgeon and patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for procedures by pulling instruments and ensuring they are in working order.
• Assists by passing instruments, retracting tissue, and operating equipment as needed.
• Maintains aseptic technique and universal precautions; handles sharps and waste safely.
• Ensures accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
• Assists with OR turnover, stocking supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
• May provide administrative support to the department.
