Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist in the operating room. You will select and place surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during surgery, scrub in, and provide sterile supplies during procedures.

Responsibilities include anticipating the surgeon's needs, maintaining aseptic technique, and aiding in turnover between cases. Preferred candidates have surgical technology certification or OR experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• Must be registered with State Regulatory Agency where applicable.
• Manual dexterity and ability to maintain decorum in stressful emergent situations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for procedures by pulling instruments and ensuring they are in good working order.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments during surgery.
• Maintains aseptic technique and universal precautions; disposes of sharps and trash correctly; participates in counting of sharps and instruments.
• Prepares instruments for cleaning after each case.
• Ensures accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
• Assists with OR turnover and stocking of supplies in the operating rooms.
• May provide administrative support to the department.
