Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist in the operating room, providing instruments, sutures and sterile supplies during procedures. You will uphold aseptic technique, respond to surgeon needs, and help with case prep and turnover in a fast-paced surgical environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification, with 0–3 years of experience for entry level and 3+ years for standard practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS required; where applicable, must be registered with State Regulatory Agency.
• Manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
• Conscientious, organized, and orderly with the ability to respond quickly to the need of the surgeon and patient.
• Level I: 0-3 years of experience; Standard: 3+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures; pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs; passes instruments and assists during surgery.
• Maintains aseptic technique and universal precautions; disposes sharps and trash and assists in counting and instrument preparation.
• Ensures accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
• Assists with OR turnover, stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
• Provides potential administrative support to the department as needed.
