Job summary

Mercy Health’s Lourdes Hospital seeks a Certified Surgical Tech First Assist to support surgeons and nurses in the operating room. Candidate will prepare the OR, assemble supplies, and maintain aseptic technique while assisting during procedures.

Requirements include an Associate's degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology, one year of experience, and CST/NBSTA/TS-C/NCCT certification. BLS is preferred; the role emphasizes teamwork and patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or vocational/military certification in Surgical Technology is required.
• One year of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
• Certification by CST, NBSTA, TS-C or NCCT is required; NBSTA accepted if prior to 2008.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists the provider during operative procedures.
• Prepares sterile supplies and instruments; maintains sterile field.
• Retrieves and labels specimens; communicates patient condition effectively.
• Provides instruments and supplies to the surgical team and maintains aseptic technique.
• Performs routine task with accuracy and teamwork.
