Job summary

Mercy Health in Toledo, OH is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech First Assist to support surgeons and nurses in the operating room. You will prepare the OR, assemble instruments, maintain aseptic technique, and assist throughout procedures according to hospital policies and regulations.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology, current CPR/BLS, and at least one year of experience as a surgical technologist.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification (required)

Responsibilities

• Scrub person; assemble supplies and equipment required for the procedure
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments; perform surgical counts
• Maintains sterile field; assists with sterile drapes and instrument handoffs
• Retrieves and labels specimens correctly
• Reports implanted devices, catheters, drains and packing to the circulator
• Prepares complete case and adapts to patient population needs
