Job summary

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician or First Assist in an acute care setting.
• Experience supporting surgeons intraoperatively with instrument handling and exposure.
• Familiarity with sterile technique, infection control, and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Works as scrub person, organizes sterile supplies and instruments.
• Provides exposure through instrument handling and retractors as directed.
• Dissects tissues, clamps vessels, coagulates bleeding points, places drains as instructed.
• Assists with wound closure and dressing per surgeon instructions.
• Ensures sterility and safety, follows counting procedures with RN circulator.
• Prepares instruments for decontamination and sterilization.
• Assists in post-procedure room turnover and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
