Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician or First Assist in an acute care setting.
• Proficiency in surgical techniques and aseptic principles.
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and respond rapidly during procedures.
• Strong attention to detail in sterile field maintenance and instrument handling.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with surgeons, nurses and anesthesia providers.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a scrub person, organizing sterile supplies and providing instruments.
• Performs first assistant duties, including exposure through instrument handling and suction.
• Handles and dissects tissues, clamps blood vessels, coagulates bleeding points, and places drains.
• Assists with wound closure, suturing, staples, and dressings per surgeon instructions.
• Ensures sterility and safety standards, counts with RN circulator, follows infection control.
• Prepares and transports instruments for decontamination and sterilization.
• Assists in post-procedure room turnover and prepares areas for next surgeries.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with all policies.
