Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Surgical Tech First Assist Certified (CSFA) for the Riverview/South Tampa area. The role supports the surgeon in the operating room, handling patient prep, draping, tissue retraction and instrument control to ensure optimal visualization and outcomes.

Requirements include HS/GED, CSFA and BLS certification, with at least 3 years as a Surgical Tech and 1 year as a Surgical First Assistant. Schedule includes day shifts with occasional on-call demand.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon during procedures and maintain the sterile field.

Summary: Responsible for assisting the surgeon during surgery and plays a vital role in the operating room during surgeries. Communicates the surgeon’s preferences and specific patient needs to surgical team. Assists in positioning, prepping and draping of patients for surgical procedures. Provides retraction of tissues and organs for optimal visualization with regard to the surgical site. Assists with selecting equipment, holding incisions open, controlling bleeding, closing incisions and performing other technical duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: HS Graduate or Equivalent GED and Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate

Required License/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) Certification.

Required Experience: At least 3 years’ experience as a Surgical Tech and 1-year Surgical First Assistant experience.
