Job summary

BayCare Health System, Surgery-MCH at Mease Countryside, seeks a Surgical Technologist First Assist Certified (CSFA) to join the clinical team. You will support the surgeon during procedures and help position and prep patients to ensure optimal exposure.

Requirements: HS diploma or GED, Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate, BLS and CSFA. Minimum 3 years as a Surgical Tech and 1 year as a Surgical First Assistant. Shift 6:30 am–5:00 pm, with weekend and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• HS Graduate or GED and Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate.
• BLS and CSFA Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon during surgery and support OR team.
• Position, prep and drape patients; retract tissues for visibility.
• Assist with equipment selection, control bleeding, incisions and closures.

Summary

Responsible for assisting the surgeon during surgery and plays a vital role in the operating room during surgeries. Communicates the surgeon’s preferences and specific patient needs to surgical team. Assists in positioning, prepping and draping of patients for surgical procedures. Provides retraction of tissues and organs for optimal visualization with regard to the surgical site. Assists with selecting equipment, holding incisions open, controlling bleeding, closing incisions and performing other technical duties.

Required Education

HS Graduate or Equivalent GED and Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate

Required License/Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) Certification.

Required Experience

At least 3 years’ experience as a Surgical Tech and 1-year Surgical First Assistant experience.
