Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist Extern for the CVOR at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. The role supports patient care under supervision, ensuring sterile technique and teamwork within the operating room.

Education required includes a High School diploma or GED with current enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology program. Prior experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program and completed all clinical training.
• Preferred: prior Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care while following Novant Health policies and regulatory standards.
• Maintain clinical and professional surgical services competencies.
• Assist in maintaining medication security and inventory.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication with team and patients.
• Check supplies and equipment for procedures; scrub, gown, and glove as needed.
• Prepare sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications for procedures.
