Novant Health is hiring for a Surgical technologist for the CVOR at our New Hanover Regional Medical Center location in Wilmington, NC.

What You'll Do
- Assists with patient care while complying with Novant Health policies and procedures and regulatory standards.
- Maintains clinical and professional surgical services competencies.
- Assists in maintaining the security of medications.
- Practices effective interpersonal communication skills
- Under supervision and direction, checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
- Performs counts per Novant Health policy.
- Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
- Helps in draping sterile field. Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure.
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.
- Prepares sterile dressings.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Assists other members of team with cleaning of room.
- Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
- All other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Soley, online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted – intern program graduates must meet online program and skill/competency assessment requirements.
- Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
- Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements may apply: new graduates must obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills. Intern program graduates must meet online program and clinical skill/competency assessment requirements.
- Work schedule: (4) 10-hr shifts 6:15a-4:45p
